I. Opening Announcements​​
  • Remember to email the editor link to your hype presentation on the Wednesday before at noon ​

  • NOTE: The new due date for project #4 is April 21; the end of grace period for both RR10 and RR11 is next Thursday, April 16
  • Final Exam: Thursday, May 7 from 8-10:30am (more details later); in-person attendance is required & only university-excused absences can be accepted

II. Early Tasks for Project #4: The Group Website Project
  • Leyat, Roberto, Isla, Madi: Sign up for the rhetor you would like to focus on ASAP (we have a few Malcom X and BLM now, so maybe someone different). 
  • Today we work on infographics in class. Next week, you will meet in groups and review the point-spread. RR#11 is designed with this project in mind.
REMINDER: Sign-Up for the orator you will focus on (CLICK HERE); all orators have now been introduced
April 9: Begin work on individual infographic for your orator (counts as CA)
April 14: (Groups designated before class via email) Groups meet and divide up website tasks and webpages; groups decide color packaging, title, and logo; individuals embed youtube videos for each orator (counts as CA)
April 16: Complete headers, opening sections, soundcloud embedding, and carousel for your orator (counts as CA); RR10 and RR11 must be submitted today (this is a change from the syllabus)
April 21: In-class work-- work on your second webpage (counts as CA); Website is due at 11:59pm!

today's tasks

  1. Using PosterMyWall.com OR CANVA, make a HORIZONTAL infographic of your orator. 
  2. Using the videos and reading curated for your orator her at the website, collect important biographical data about your orator. Do NOT use AI. Google search is fine, but be sure to pay attention to the sources of the AI summaries now created.  What is significant about the orator's childhood/youth/family and why? What tragedies and/or challenges did they face?
  3. Find at least two images of your orator: one should be your fave photo of them; another should show their social/historical/political world.  Make sure you keep track of the image sources and put that on your infographic too.
  4. Using your chosen images or the vibe you are going for, decide on a color/theme of your infographic. NO CARTOONISH stuff and NO white space!
  5. Find birthdate, place, and death information for your orator. Include that on your infographic in an eye-catching way.
  6. Name at least three important dates, events, and/or key accomplishments for your orator. Include that on your infographic in an eye-catching way.
  7. CHECK YOUR SPELLINGS! NO TYPOS!
  8. When you are done or by 10:40am, add your infographic to this folder by clicking here or going to this link: https://bit.ly/april9-infographics as a jpg, png, or pdf. We'll view these together in the last ten minutes of class.
  9. Next week, you will post your infographic to your group website.  You can still edit and revise your piece.
TIPS
If working in CANVA, INFOGRAPHIC RESUME works best because it is horizontal. INFOGRAPHIC POSTER also works.  Avoid the long, slender infographic templates as these won't transfer well to your website.

Log into your account. Use your TCU premium version. If you click on CREATE and type in "infographic" at create a design, you will see the RESUME and POSTER template options there.
If working in POSTERMYWALL, you can type in infographic in the box called "SEARCH A TEMPLATE." 

Better still, click CREATE and choose BLANK DESIGN and you can really be creative. Be sure to select FLYER. Decide if you prefer vertical or horizontal. Both will work on the website.
