I. Opening Announcements​​

  • Project #4 is due next Tuesday, April 21
  • The end of grace period for both RR10 and RR11 is this today, April 16 at 11:59pm
  • Final Exam: Thursday, May 7 from 8-10:30am (more details later); in-person attendance is required & only university-excused absences can be accepted 
Check your GMAIL for link to your website. From there, it should show up on your google drive.

  • By the end of this week, strive to have your orator's page complete.
  • We are devoting two more classes (this includes today) to this project. There is NO extension past next Tuesday's due date at 11:59pm
April 16: Complete headers, opening sections, soundcloud embedding, and carousel for your orator; upload CA (counts as CA); RR10 and RR11 must be submitted today (this is a change from the syllabus); Make sure that you finish your orator's page this week.
April 21: In-class work-- work on your second webpage (counts as CA); Website is due at 11:59pm!
April 23: Mark and Leyat present; Each group will show & discuss their website briefly: Homepage designer goes first, then history person goes, and then connections person (2-3 minutes MAX)
April 28: Roberto presents; review of final exam

Today's tasks

Continue to discuss color, logo, title, packaging, etc.
1)Share your infographic with your collaborators. Make sure it has some similarities with your collaborators. Embed your infographic at the top of the page. Make sure the infogaphic and all images/headers are HORIZONTAL. This counts as today's CA.
​2) Complete your header for your orator page. Make sure you match the vibe and style of your collaborators' headers. This counts as today's CA.
3) Write your brief opening section and choose a background image for it (remember: choose HORIZONTAL  images). This opening should come right after the header. Use a dividing line if you like the look of that. This counts as today's CA.
4) Search for a song on soundcloud that matches the time period and vibe of your orator. Go to the share button and copy the embed code. Embed near the top of the page. This counts as today's CA.
5) Write prose next to your video; if you have included two videos side-by-side, write prose at the top of the duo videos.  The prose should say what the video is about. Do NOT free-float a video by itself. This counts as today's CA.
6)Make sure each section of your webpage is aligned. Change the color of alternating sections too. This counts as today's CA.
7) If you have time left, start writing the prose for your pages; use RR #11 on your webpage for your oratory analysis. 
8) If you have time left, create a carousel for your orator with at least five images.
On Tuesday, we work on weblinks and analog text. Be ready. These are not tasks I will be able to explain later via email.

2025 Student  infographic  samples

Making an infographic

  1. Using PosterMyWall.com OR CANVA, make a HORIZONTAL infographic of your orator. 
  2. Using the videos and reading curated for your orator here at the website, collect important biographical data about your orator. Do NOT use AI. Google search is fine, but be sure to pay attention to the sources of the AI summaries now created.  What is significant about the orator's childhood/youth/family and why? What tragedies and/or challenges did they face?
  3. Find at least two images of your orator: one should be your fave photo of them; another should show their social/historical/political world.  Make sure you keep track of the image sources and put that on your infographic too.
  4. Using your chosen images or the vibe you are going for, decide on a color/theme of your infographic. NO CARTOONISH stuff and NO white space!
  5. Find birthdate, place, and death information for your orator. Include that on your infographic in an eye-catching way.
  6. Name at least three important dates, events, and/or key accomplishments for your orator. Include that on your infographic in an eye-catching way.
  7. CHECK YOUR SPELLINGS! NO TYPOS!​
  8. Next week, you will post your infographic to your group website.  You can still edit and revise your piece.
TIPS
If working in CANVA, INFOGRAPHIC RESUME works best because it is horizontal. INFOGRAPHIC POSTER also works.  Avoid the long, slender infographic templates as these won't transfer well to your website.

Log into your account. Use your TCU premium version. If you click on CREATE and type in "infographic" at create a design, you will see the RESUME and POSTER template options there.
If working in POSTERMYWALL, you can type in infographic in the box called "SEARCH A TEMPLATE." 

Better still, click CREATE and choose BLANK DESIGN and you can really be creative. Be sure to select FLYER. Decide if you prefer vertical or horizontal. Both will work on the website.
