Welcome to week tHIRTEEN!

I. Announcements​​
  • The rest of the semester focuses on RR 8-11, Project #3, Project #4, and the last 5-6 weeks of classroom activities.
  • There are no more slots left on the presentation schedule.  If you miss your day, you forfeit the grade for this project.​​​​
II.  Possibilities for Extra Credit at the End of the Semester
  • Many of you do VERY THOROUGH reading of the assignment where you get into every nook & cranny of the text.  Then you LIGHT up the RR and write more than 500 words.  I always give extra credit for that.
  • After next week (when we will reach more than 15 CAs), the CAs will count as extra credit.
  • There will be opportunities for extra credit on Project #4.
  • There will be opportunities for extra credit on the final exam project (some of you may have enough points by then that you don't need to even do it).

A Typical Week

  • Tuesdays are workshop days
  • Thursdays are panels for the Hype Presentations &  homework days​

Final Call is April 26 (not this week like the syllabus says-- because Carmen is way behind on grading)

IV. Today's Listening and Writing Exercise (CA14) [click here for handout]
  1. As a group, chose one of the artists and performers below.  Let's try to make sure each artist is covered by a small group in class.
  2. On your own using your earbuds, listen to the artist's music (on the left) and interview (on the right).  As (or after) you listen, jot down your responses on your classroom hand-out. 
  3. After you listen and learn from your artist, be prepared to share your thoughts with your group.  Jot more notes based on what your colleagues have said.
  4. As a group, you will compose your final response to the last question together!
  5. Together, we will showcase these artists and your comments to the whole class.
