II. BAM and Black Women
PART ONE--- BAM WOMEN: As you listen to your BAM artist, ask yourself why was this such a revolutionary movement for Black women's writing? Why do you think BAM was the most generative period for Black women's poetry? Why were broadsides and albums so effective? Why did this Black woman poet connect to BAM?
PART TWO--- RHETORICAL CONTINUITIES As you listen to your 21st century artist, ask yourself why and how this artist is so influenced by the BAM leader. How is the contemporary artist communicating with her predecessor (lyrics, vibe, rhythm, style, politics)?
PART THREE--- IMPACT: What are these women's purposes? Why these messages? Why deliver this way?
