General Announcement: The Who We Are section is up now (undergrads will join next fall if my class on AAL runs). Please post a bio (make a bio page) OR post a bio onto your webpage.
I. Discussion of Talkin That Talk Project
II. Spoken Soul Presentations
PART ONE: We will hear individual presentations from these chapters: Chapter 2 (writers), Chapter 3 (preachers and pray-ers), Chapter 4 (comedians and actors), Chapter 5 (singers, toasters, and rappers), Chapter 9 (education), Chapter 10 (media), Chapter 11 (“Ebonics” humor), Chapter 12 (identity).
PART TWO: Whats the relationship to African American Literacies (both Dr. E's book and the concept)? What do we learn here... and can we move beyond the binary of AAL as informal/SE as formal?
III. AAL Activity: “Until I Am Free, You Are Not Free Either” (The handout and speech are available on dropbox)
Hype presentations resume next week.
